Extended Day Opportunities

Talmid
The Talmid Program is an after-school, teacher-supervised tutoring program available to Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy students in grades 2-12.  The teachers in Talmid are highly qualified members of the HBHA staff.  The purpose of Talmid is to give students more time in completing class work, make appointments to work with teachers, or to complete work missed during an absence. Students who attend Talmid should come prepared to work, bringing textbooks, paper and writing utensils.  Students attending Talmid without work to do will be asked to leave.

This program is offered Tuesday through Thursday at no additional cost to the families.  The program is not open on early dismissal days, the days prior to conferences or holidays, or during the January Winterim session. Please check the HBHA web calendar for specific closing dates. Talmid is open to Lower School students from 3:45-5:15 p.m.  Students in Lower School must be picked up by 5:15 p.m.  Students will be given 2 warnings for lateness and then will not be allowed to attend Talmid for the balance of the semester.  Students in Lower School will not be dismissed to go to the lobby or gym without written permission from a parent.

Middle and Upper School students may attend Talmid from 4:00-6:30 p.m. Students may make an appointment with a teacher on duty to work on a particular subject, or they may drop in to get tutoring. Last appointments should be made no later than 6:15 p.m.  Talmid begins August 24, 2010 for all students.
