The Counseling and Student Development department at Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy was developed to address the social, emotional and developmental needs of our students. 

The Director of Counseling and Student Development responds to academic, social or emotional concerns shared by teachers, parents or students, and participates as part of the Care Team to respond to student needs. The Counselor also provides opportunities for students to participate in social skills groups with their peers or meet with the couselor on a short term basis to address emotional concerns.  In addition, the Counselor works with the Health Coordinator and outside agencies to provide education, support and resourses to Lower school students on the topics of personal safety, health and hygiene, social skills, conflict resolution and developmental changes.  

In Middle and Upper School grades, the Director of Couseling & Student Development is responsible for the Mentoring Program.
