The Lower School faculty works as a team to constantly improve the curriculum, explore new teaching strategies and create a positive learning environment for all students. Instructional class sizes are small and students are given the individual attention they need to live up to their potential as learners. HBHA faculty and staff are positive, dedicated, well qualified and caring. Teachers foster leadership in students by providing opportunities to be involved in activities to improve our school, local community and the world.

Students in grades 2 through 5 consistently score well above the national norms on the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test in reading and math. This assessment is given in the fall and spring of each school year. We use data from this testing to identify specific areas in which students may need intervention or enrichment to live up to their potential.

As students are encouraged to become independent learners, HBHA works to build enthusiasm for the pursuit of knowledge and encourage love for the study of Torah and observance of mitzvot (commandments/obligations). We recognize that each child is unique and provide individual attention leading to success and balanced self esteem. Our goal is for children to become actively involved in learning, enthusiastic about their Jewish identity, proud of their American heritage and devoted to improving the world around them. The school helps them along a path of religious observance and encourages positive relationships in all aspects of life.
