HBHA has been in my life since 1982, starting when HBHA was housed on College Boulevard. For 16 years, I was the second grade general studies teacher, seven years of teaching third grade general studies. In 2005 I switched to my position as Director of Student Services. I became a teacher for many reasons-my love for children and their constant energy and love of learning, the thrill of the ah-ah moment and the pure satisfaction of imparting knowledge, the challenge of communicating information and concepts and the creativity involved in designing and implementing lesson plans. As the Director of Special Education, my goal is to enable special needs students to successfully develop to their fullest potential by providing the appropriate plan to meet their specific needs. Ensuring that each student be provided accommodations and modifications, as needed, allows the student to be a successful member of the regular classroom. My husband, Joe, and I have been married for over 40 years. Both of our sons are proud HBHA graduates. My oldest son, Dan and his wife, Jacki, have two children, Madilyn and Drake. We visit them often in Chicago. My youngest son, Jeremy and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of twin daughters, Goldie, and her twin, Ilana, of blessed memory, Mona, and daughter Risa. My husband and I love to spend our time together exercising, watching sports (Royals, Chiefs, and YES, both KU and MU basketball teams), and being with family and friends. Traveling to Chicago to visit our grandchildren and taking care of our granddaughters in Overland Park, is something we look forward to regularly. I enjoy reading, exercising and playing Words with Friends. I love to travel to Israel, although I don't get there often enough!
