I think the most important thing of all for any team is a winning attitude. The coaches must have it. The players must have it. The student body must have it. If you have dedicated players who believe in themselves, you don’t need a lot of talent- Bear Bryant

More about Austin:
I have been at HBHA since the 2006 school year. During my time at the school, I have served in many capacities. Those roles include Physical Education teacher, Athletic Director, Boys/Girls Soccer coach, Boys/Girls Basketball coach and most importantly hot dog grill master. I started the GPAC League that our high school teams compete in each year back in 2012 with the vision of giving our students athletes something to play for at the end of each year. This conference continues to grow each year and showcases many great small schools in the Kansas City area. I also implemented the Champions of Character program which recognizes one senior student athlete each year who demonstrates the five key core values: respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, integrity and servant leadership. When I began at HBHA, the school only offered soccer and basketball. We have then added tennis, cross country and volleyball.

Outside of work, I am married to my wife Kate in which we just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary (2022). We have two daughters. Emerson will be in 2nd grade this year and Ella will be one year old in October 2022. I am a die hard fan for all of our Kansas City sports teams and you will always find someone on our tv at home. I love being outside, staying active and cooking on my Traeger.
