More about Gina:
I come by the teaching profession honestly through my parents, my aunts and uncles, and before that my grandparents (my grandfather was Nixon's piano teacher in CA!). After studying historicist criticism in graduate school in California, I taught English literature and composition at Victor Valley College.  When I moved from California to Kansas to raise my growing family, I worked as a freelance editor (Longman Anthology of English Literature and Women's Studies Journal) and later as a freelance writer (Research Magazine).

Some of my favorite teaching activities include supporting learning about politics and United States government so that democracy itself can flourish with informed and empowered citizen, encouraging students to develop their writing, photography, video, and critical reading skills in student publications, and discussing great books with students - who bring fresh eyes to classic novels every year.
