More about Jody:
I earned my BA in Spanish and International studies at Mizzou and shortly thereafter served in the Peace Corps in Panama for 15 months. I love Spanish and Latin American culture. My favorite Latin American country I have been to so far is Dominican Republic. I have worked part time as an interpreter as well as an after-school Spanish teacher. Before starting my position at HBHA, I lived in St. Louis and worked in the Jewish community there for about five years. I worked at my synagogue doing youth programming as well as interfaith family initiatives. I also worked at the Jewish Federation planning and leading the same Israel trip that I went on when I was 16. I had the privilege of leading three Israel experiences for teens during my time at JFed STL.

In 2020 I began studying for my Master's in Israel Education with GW and the iCenter for Israel Education. Through this program I gained new knowledge, colleagues, perspectives, and tools to help me be the best educator I can be. I am passionate about working with teens in the realm of their relationship with Israel and their Jewish identity. Growing up as the only Jewish family in a small rural town in Missouri forced me to become confident in my identity and sparked curiosity about global Jewish peoplehood. I enjoy engaging with teens on their own journey to discover their heritage and culture and how they find meaning within their Jewish identity. I believe in the power of experiential education, and I am inspired by all of the amazing programming and projects here at HBHA. Interacting with students every day is the best part of my job and I hope to have a positive impact on their day.

I live with my husband Chen, our dog Daisy, and two cats, Maya and Ramona. We enjoy cooking, traveling, watching TV together, and kayaking. I love to paint, do puzzles and make beaded jewelry.
