Description of Role

We are seeking a full-time Lower School Teacher’s Aide that supports classroom teachers in delivering instructional and educational support to students. This role assists with classroom management, lesson preparation, bulletin board creation, student supervision, and individualized support to help create a positive, safe, and effective learning environment.

Starting: August 2026

Salary Range: Starting at $25,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher with implementing lesson plans and classroom activities
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students
  • Help monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Help manage student behavior according to school policies
  • Supervise students during class, recess, lunch, and transitions
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning up classroom materials and activities

Qualifications:

  • Education degree or equivalent

Description of Role

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy seeks a passionate and innovative science teacher to serve students across the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and the ability to teach Upper School Chemistry. Additionally, this role focuses on teaching science through integrated, hands-on, project-based learning that fosters curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

The teacher will work closely with supervisors, colleagues, students, and families to deliver an excellent academic experience aligned with the school’s mission and to create a collaborative, respectful learning environment. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in implementing a STEAM curriculum, collaborating with colleagues on the implementation of the scientific method as it pertains to the Next Generation Science Standards, is an organized and thoughtful planner with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting students throughout their academic journey.

Starting: August 2026

Salary Range: Salary dependent on number of classes taught; part-time starting at $11,000; full-time starting at $50,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with curriculum standards in grades 6–12
  • Ability to teach Intro to Chemistry to 10th-grade students
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, experiments, and design challenges

Description of Role

We are seeking a Middle and Upper School Hebrew Teacher to join our team of excellent educators. The MS/US Hebrew Teacher will collaborate with teachers, students, and administrators on creating Hebrew proficiency through teaching various materials in a creative setting that allows our students to connect to the culture and master the language. The MS/US Hebrew Teacher will report directly to the US Principal and Director of Jewish Education. This will be a full-time job.

Starting: August 2026

Description of Role

The administrative assistant sets the tone for the school, as the first impression for students, parents, prospective families, and all other community guests. The role supports various school operations, including but not limited to answering phones, assisting with student attendance, finding substitutes, day-to-day scheduling, data input, supply ordering, daily office upkeep, mail, and school-specific email. 

This full-time position supports the Lower and Middle School Principal, the Head of School, and administrative staff [as needed] in maintaining the routine functions of the academic day and school year. In addition, the administrative assistant assists with special activities, some of which involve attendance at evening events. 

Start Date: June 11, 2026

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist students, families, and visitors with professionalism and warmth
  • Ensure that the phone is answered in a quick, warm, and upbeat manner during regular school hours
  • Assist with check-in, check-out, inquiries, and deliveries
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, parent conferences, and school events to ensure there are no scheduling conflicts, appointments are on-time, and materials are available
  • Support the Lower and Middle School Principal and Head of School with daily operations and scheduling
  • Execute student records requests
  • Assist with school events
  • Support state compliance requirements
  • Keep all necessary office supplies in stock by maintaining inventory and ordering proactively
  • Arrange for office equipment maintenance
  • Work with faculty and staff to arrange substitute teachers, gather materials/supplies, and organize field trip logistics
  • Collaborate with the facilities team to reserve spaces and ensure campus facilities are safe, clean, and aesthetically appealing; create facilities requests as needed
  • Enforce the safety protocols of the school to mitigate on-campus risks

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of administrative assistance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Flexibility to extend work hours on an as-needed basis for events and campus needs
  • Commitment to early morning arrival
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

As the primary architect of our development strategy, you will spearhead annual and endowment campaigns that ensure HBHA's financial strength and future growth.

Key Qualifications:

  • Five years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, ideally in an educational setting. Knowledge of the Jewish community is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in both annual and major gift development, with a track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Expertise in working within a philanthropic community, with deep knowledge of donor engagement, stewardship, and relationship building.

  • Experience in planning and managing events of all sizes, from intimate donor meetings to large-scale community events.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of comprehensive development plan, including endowment, capital, and any open campaigns.
  • Annual Campaign Leadership: Design, implement, and manage the annual giving program, from donor communication and solicitation to stewardship, ensuring we meet or exceed our annual goal ($2.2 million).
  • Endowment Campaign Execution: Collaborate with the Endowment Steering Committee to conduct the endowment campaign plan, solicit major gifts, and oversee all donor cultivation and tracking aspects.
  • Major Gifts Solicitation: Take the lead on securing contributions and crafting compelling cases for support that resonate with high-net-worth individuals and other funders.
  • Grant Oversight: Manage the full cycle of grant writing, submission, and reporting while actively pursuing new funding opportunities that align with HBHA’s mission.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Partner closely with the Head of School and administrative team to align development goals with school priorities. Supervise a Senior Philanthropy Associate and Database Coordinator to ensure seamless operations.
  • Community Engagement: Actively cultivate relationships within the Jewish community and Greater Kansas City’s philanthropic landscape to expand HBHA’s visibility and donor base.

Brief Description of Role
We are seeking a Special Education Interventionist that can span Lower School and Middle School special education intervention needs. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, families, teachers, Director of Lower School Student Services, and Director of Middle School Student Services to provide targeted General Studies instructional support, interventions, and accommodations that help students with diverse learning needs succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This role focuses on delivering high-quality interventions based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), outside diagnosis, Acadience/progress monitoring, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each student receives an equitable education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, small-group, and/or one-on-one instruction to students with identified education needs.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions in reading, math, writing, behavior, and executive functioning.
  • Collaborate with General Studies teachers to differentiate instruction and ensure inclusive practices in the classroom.
  • Support the development and implementation of Learning Plans; monitor student progress toward established goals and update documentation accordingly.
  • Participate in parent meetings, student support team meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Use Acadience testing to progress monitor to develop data-driven practices to assess student needs and adapt instructional strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions, services provided, and student progress.
  • Promote positive behavior support and social-emotional learning in the classroom and across school settings.
  • Stay current on special education laws, best practices, and instructional strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong knowledge of IEP processes, progress monitoring tools, and instructional strategies

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Intervention, or a related field
  • Experience using data to drive instruction and interventions
  • Training in programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Acadience
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy welcomes your application for the Substitute Teacher position at our K-12 Jewish Day School, located in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. HBHA is a community day school with two separate Jewish Studies options: Oren, for families looking for an Orthodox approach to education, and Erez, which is an egalitarian, pluralistic approach to Jewish education.

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is seeking a substitute teacher to fill in for teachers who are not able to teach their classes. The substitute teacher will arrive on time, follow modesty and professional dress, and establish rapport with the students and fellow staff members.

Ideal candidates will:

Job Responsibilities
