Our teaching position is a unique opportunity to join a special community of educators. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, in Overland Park, Kansas, is a student-centered school which affords teachers the freedom to be creative and innovative, with support and guidance from their administrators. The successful candidate will: 

  • Have a strong background and understanding in individualized instruction and education
  • Have experience teaching Middle and/or Upper School aged students
  • Demonstrate knowledge of 21st Century skills, differentiated instruction, modeling and project-based learning
  • Have strong classroom management strategies and excellent communication skills
  • Inspire a love of learning that will continue through Middle and Upper School
  • Be committed to professional growth and professional sharing
  • Work collaboratively with members of the grade level team as well as administration, students, and families
  • Have an experience in teaching chemistry as well as Middle and Upper school sciences
  • Qualifications: Education degree, Masters preferred, and teaching license preferred

Part-Time [3 days a week], On-Site

Overview:
Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Junior IT Support Specialist to join our team. This role will primarily focus on providing on-site technical support to our educational staff and students, ensuring smooth operations of our technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with our existing IT partner, K12 ITC, and Educational Technology Department Chair to troubleshoot issues, perform system maintenance, and assist with technology integration in our educational environment.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide on-site technical support to teachers, staff, and students within the school district
2. Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, including computers, printers, projectors, and other peripherals per IT partner guidance
3. Assist in the implementation of technology initiatives and projects, working closely with our IT partner and district administrators
4. Provide training and technical assistance to end-users on the proper use of technology resources and tools
5. Document all support activities, including troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and system configurations via our IT partners internal system
6. Maintain inventory records of IT equipment, software licenses, and peripheral devices
7. Physically fix and troubleshoot hardware needs for devices, projectors, and other non-remote managed equipment

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1-2 years of experience in a technical support role, preferably in an educational setting
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Chrome OS)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve technical issues with appropriate support
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to interact professionally with end-users of varying technical abilities
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow established processes and procedures

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy welcomes your application for a Director of Philanthropy position at our K-12 Jewish Day School, located in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. HBHA is a community day school with two separate Jewish Studies options: Oren, for families looking for an Orthodox approach to education, and Erez, which is an egalitarian, pluralistic approach to Jewish education. This position reports directly to the Head of School.

Overall Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Member of Administrative team, specifically working with Admissions, Marketing and Head of School
  • Grow relationships and gain a working knowledge of the Jewish community and the Greater Kansas City community
  • Write, submit, present, and evaluate grants
  • Endowment Campaign: work with the Steering Committee to plan, communicate, solicit, create/update brochure
  • Annual Campaign: Develop program, communicate, solicit, steward
  • Fundraising events: Donor meetings/receptions for head of school, VIP Day, CSA Celebration: schedule and plan
  • Supervise Senior Development Associate, who assists with all activities and responsibilities, and oversees alumni activities
  • Supervise Database Coordinator, oversee updates and reports
  • Create, edit, and approve all fundraising communications; print, email, text, social media
  • Connect to Community, Funding Organizations, Professional Development Groups, etc.

A qualified candidate:

  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize workload, meet deadlines & supervise staff
  • Must work well with staff, board and donors
  • Must understand the importance of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Must be available for evening and weekend work
  • Must have a college degree
  • Must have strong organizational, writing, editing and communication skills
  • Must have fundraising experience
  • Must have database experience
  • Must demonstrate success at creating relationships, raising large gifts, providing stewardship
  • Must have event planning experience
  • Must develop a working knowledge of our K-12 Jewish day school, its staff, its families, and its students

Salary range: $75,000-$100,000 based on experience

The Kindergarten through twelfth-grade School Counselor will be a uniquely qualified and educationally certified individual that will assist the students in their learning and the teachers with their teaching.   • Have a Bachelor’s degree in education or psychology or another closely related field;
  • Have a Master’s, specialist, or doctoral degree in school psychology or educational psychology development or related field;
  • Have experience with RULER
  • Be credentialed or currently licensed at the state and/or national level to practice school psychology in a school setting. Individuals who are currently licensed as independent psychologists (with closely related experience) will be considered.

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is seeking a substitute teacher to fill in for teachers who are not able to teach their classes. The substitute teacher will arrive on time, follow modesty and professional dress, and establish rapport with the students and fellow staff members.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be cordial and responsible

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow provided lesson plans
  • Have behavior/classroom management skills and be able to perform duties such as lunch duty, hallway duty, room cleaning, and desk moving (as needed for classroom structure/lesson plan)

HBHA substitute teachers make an hourly wage of $12/hour.

Teacher’s aides are an integral part of the school and are beloved by the HBHA families. HBHA teacher’s aides are asked to support teachers and students in a variety of capacities, including but not limited to individual student support, small group support, photocopying, laminating, and bulletin board creation.
