Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is seeking a Lower School teacher who has the skill set and abilities to work within our K-8 Student Services Departments to enrich the education of high-achieving and gifted students. In this role, the enrichment teacher will work closely with the Director of Lower School Student Services, the Director of Middle and Upper School Student Services, direct supervisor, General Studies Classroom teachers, students, and families to provide an excellent academic experience that enhances the development of the school’s mission and provides opportunities for our students to engage in hands-on learning in a collaborative and respectful environment. We are seeking a candidate who is adept at planning and delivering instruction, with excellent collaborative and communication skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for supporting the student's academic journey.

Our elementary teacher aide position is a unique opportunity to join a special community of educators. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, in Overland Park, Kansas, is a teacher-centered school that affords teachers the freedom to be creative and innovative, with support and guidance from their administrators. Teacher aides are an integral part of the school and are beloved by the HBHA families. We are seeking a full-time Lower School General Studies Teacher to join our team of excellent educators. The Lower School Teacher will collaborate with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators to provide an enriching, hands-on learning experience in math, social studies, English Language Arts, and Science. A qualified candidate will show mastery in understanding and integrating social-emotional learning into the curriculum, open communication with families, an approach to teaching the whole child, differentiation in all areas of instruction, and strong classroom management. This position reports directly to the kindergarten through eighth-grade Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing classroom routines
  • Writing weekly newsletters with pictures from classroom activities
  • Communicating with parents about positives and areas for improvement for individual students
  • Working as a teaching team with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff
  • Monitoring recess duties
  • Providing enriched and differentiated learning opportunities
  • Completing report cards each quarter with individual comments for each student
  • Writing and implementing creative lesson plans that follow the scope and sequence of the provided HBHA curriculum

Qualifications

  • Education degree, Masters preferred, and teaching license preferred
  • Experience teaching Lower/Elementary school students
  • Experience teaching social-emotional learning

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy welcomes your application for the Substitute Teacher position at our K-12 Jewish Day School, located in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. HBHA is a community day school with two separate Jewish Studies options: Oren, for families looking for an Orthodox approach to education, and Erez, which is an egalitarian, pluralistic approach to Jewish education.

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is seeking a substitute teacher to fill in for teachers who are not able to teach their classes. The substitute teacher will arrive on time, follow modesty and professional dress, and establish rapport with the students and fellow staff members.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have a background in teaching
  • Have a degree in education
  • Share successful experiences working with students
  • Be cordial and responsible

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow provided lesson plans
  • Have behavior/classroom management skills and be able to perform duties such as lunch duty, hallway duty, room cleaning, and desk moving (as needed for classroom structure/lesson plan)

HBHA substitute teachers make an hourly wage of $18/hour.
