Classroom Teacher of General Studies

Our teaching position is a unique opportunity to join a special community of educators. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, in Overland Park, Kansas, is a student-centered school which affords teachers the freedom to be creative and innovative, with support and guidance from their administrators. Teachers are an integral part of the school and beloved by the HBHA families.   • Be committed to professional growth and professional sharing

Qualifications: Education degree, Masters preferred, and teaching license preferred

Lower School Teacher’s Aide

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, Kansas City’s only K-12 Jewish community day school, seeks to hire an enthusiastic individual to serve as a teacher's aide in the Lower School.

The successful candidate will: 

  • have a background working with children
  • have a genuine interest in working with Lower School students and teachers
  • be collaborative and flexible 
  • be responsible in following a schedule and being on time
  • have experience working with students at the Elementary Level 
  • demonstrate an energetic approach to collaborative work
  • be committed to professional growth 
  • understand the importance of social and emotional growth as well as academic within a school setting

Qualifications: Education degree [preferred], experience working with Lower School students

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation including but not limited to computer, telephone, copy machine, facsimile and printers. Stooping, bending, and reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common.

Hourly rate: Teacher's Aides earn $12/hour

Middle/Upper School Openings

Middle and Upper School Administrative Assistant

This position is a unique opportunity to join a special community of educators. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, in Overland Park, Kansas, is a student-centered school which affords teachers the freedom to be creative and innovative, with support and guidance from their administrators. Administrative assistants provide support to administrators, teachers, students and parents in order to help ensure the operation of the school is welcoming, friendly and efficient.  HBHA is truly an exceptional work environment, and as such we are seeking an exceptional school administrative assistant.

We are seeking:

  • A thoughtful and organized person with educational experience
  • A team player who enjoys working in partnership with administrators, teachers and parents in the best interest of the children. 
  • An excellent communicator 
  • A self-motivated individual who is flexible and will give 100% to supporting the effective functioning of the school environment. 
  • An individual who is open to working in a Jewish environment in which Jewish (and human) values, traditions, and holidays are woven seamlessly into the day

The successful candidate will: 

  • Have a background in computer database, word processing, spreadsheets and copiers
  • Have experience with written and verbal communication to various constituencies including adolescents and young adults
  • Able to manage a system of record keeping for the school, including but not limited to attendance, discipline, teacher substitutes, school assemblies, back to school nights, parent conferences, field trips, teacher syllabi, student records, and any other school related functions.
  • Manage special event details for school honor assemblies, in school bar or bat mitzvot celebrations, graduation ceremonies, and other school functions.
  • Help manage confidential school information
  • Communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders with efficiency and effectiveness to keep school operations running smoothly.
  • Work collaboratively with all faculty and staff throughout the building with enthusiasm and professionalism.

K-12 Music Teacher

Teaching music at Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is a unique opportunity to join a special community of educators. HBHA is truly an exceptional work environment, and as such, we are seeking an exceptional K-12 music teacher.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong background in music with knowledge in both secular and Jewish music
  • Have experience teaching music to school-aged students
  • Provide students with an education in Jewish and secular Studies songs as well as music theory
  • Have a strong knowledge base of teaching instruments such as ukuleles, percussion instruments and woodwinds, including but not limited to the recorder, trombone, flute, and clarinet
  • Have knowledge and/or experience in teaching choral music and leading a choir
  • Have strong classroom management strategies and excellent communication skills
  • Inspire a love of music that will continue through Middle and Upper School
  • Be committed to professional growth and professional sharing
  • Work collaboratively with members of the grade level team as well as administration, students, and families

Qualifications: Education and/or Music degree, teaching license preferred, experience teaching music to school-aged students.
