Admissions Policy

HBHA is open to all children of Jewish backgrounds embracing the acceptance of the diverse beliefs of our Jewish community. It is our hope that the experiences gained at HBHA will be the fulfillment of HBHA's mission to prepare students for fulfilling lives as Jews and as honorable and contributing citizens.

HBHA welcomes students who fit into one of the following categories to apply:

  1. A child who is being raised Jewish by two Jewish parents/legal guardians (parent Jewish by birth or conversion).
  2. A child who is being raised Jewish by one Jewish parent/legal guardian in either a single parent/guardian or interfaith household (parent Jewish by birth or conversion).
  3. A child whose parents)/family is in the process of conversion. This family will have joined a local congregation and are sponsored by a recognized rabbinic authority.

All students applying for admissions to HBHA must complete the application process in order to be considered for admission to the school. The process varies slightly according to the grade level to which a student is applying. Students will be admitted based on the school's ability to meet the child's academic, social, emotional and physical needs and on the basis of available space. HBHA retains the right to determine whether or not to select a student for admission or to re-enroll a student. The Admissions Team - composed of the Head of School, Principals, Director of Admissions, Director of Student Services, and School Psychologist - makes the decisions regarding acceptance of applicants. Parents/guardians will receive notification of admission status from the Head of School and Director of Admissions.

Admissions decisions are made independently of financial need. All financial assistance grants are awarded on the basis of need and each request receives careful individual consideration by the Financial Assistance Committee which is administered by the Chief Financial Officer.

HBHA admits students of any race, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, national and ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletics or other school-administered programs.
