The formal kindergarten admissions process takes place in January and February; however, applications after that time are welcome. Applications for lateral entries into grades 1-11 are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis.
Arrange a parent tour of HBHA. Contact the Director of Admissions, Tamara Lawson Schuster at (913) 327-8135 or firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your visit. If applying for kindergarten, attend a Taste of Kindergarten evening in January.
Please note: Steps 2 and 3 may be completed before step 1.
Complete and submit the Application for Admission. Please note: the following items will be submitted through the online application.
- a $50 non-refundable application fee
- a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport, and
- a copy of your child's current Immunization Record.
Please note: Application fees are separate from tuition and deposit fees.
If applying for kindergarten, register your child to attend Kindergarten Round-Up. Applications for admission must be submitted on or before Round-Up. If applying after Round-Up, schedule your child for a short visit to HBHA's kindergarten classroom. Applicants for grades 1-11 will need to spend a half or full Shadow Day at HBHA in their current grade class.
Step 4 (optional):
Submit a Financial Assistance Application for New HBHA Applicants and related documents to our Chief Financial Officer. See the Financial Assistance page for financial assistance information and forms.
The Admissions Committee will assemble all application materials, recommendation forms and student records to make admission decisions.
Please note: Applications for admission will be processed only upon receipt of all admissions documents.
Acceptance letters and enrollment contracts for kindergarten will be mailed in early March, and thereafter on a rolling basis. Acceptance letters and enrollment contracts for lateral entries will be sent on a rolling basis.
Contracts and enrollment deposits are due back within three weeks of receiving the acceptance letter.
HBHA is open to all children of Jewish background embracing the acceptance of the diverse beliefs of our Jewish community. It is our hope that the experiences gained at HBHA will be the fulfillment of HBHA’s mission to prepare students for fulfilling lives as Jews and as honorable and contributing citizens.
All students applying for admissions to HBHA must complete the application process in order to be considered for admission to the school. The process varies slightly according to the grade level to which a student is applying. Students will be admitted based on the school’s ability to meet the child’s academic, social, emotional and physical needs and on the basis of available space. HBHA retains the right to determine whether or not to select a student for admission or to re-enroll a student. The Admissions Team – composed of the Head of School, Principals, Director of Admissions, Director of Student Services, and School Psychologist – makes the decisions regarding acceptance of applicants. Parents/guardians will receive notification of admission status from the Head of School and Director of Admissions.
Admissions decisions are made independently of financial need. All financial assistance grants are awarded on the basis of need and each request receives careful individual consideration by the Financial Assistance Committee which is administered by the Chief Financial Officer.
HBHA admits students of any race, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, national and ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletics or other school-administered programs.
