Extracurriculars

HBHA offers a variety of extracurricular activities for students of all ages.

Lower School
In addition to academically enriching field trips and mitzvah trips around Kansas City, Lower School students may participate in Club 26.2 (K-5) and HBHA athletics (5th grade only). Students may participate in additional after-school activities on campus through The J KC.

Middle School
During the school day, students can engage in elective courses, including: 

  • Graphic design
  • Drama
  • Art
  • Music
  • PE
  • Jewish Studies 

Beyond our elective courses, HBHA offers these extracurricular opportunities in Middle School:

  • 'No cut' sports
  • Mathcounts
  • Student council
  • Rainbow Rams
  • Class trips in 6th and 8th grade 

Talmid, a teacher-supervised tutoring program, is also available Tuesday-Thursday for Middle School students from 4:00-6:00 pm each week. Students may participate in additional after-school activities on campus through The J KC.

Upper School
During the school day, Upper School students can engage in a wider selection of elective classes including:

  • Publications (student newspaper and yearbook)
  • 3D design
  • Tech club
  • Genetics
  • Psychology
  • Philosophy
  • Literature and film
  • Creative writing
  • Jewish philosophy
  • Economics

Beyond our elective courses, extracurricular opportunities in Upper School include: 

  • ‘No cut’ varsity sports
  • Student council
  • National Honor Society
  • Holchim Yarok environment club
  • Ram Slam Poetry
  • Social Justice Projects with University Academy
  • Two exceptional class trips
    • 9th and 10th grade Civil Rights Tour of the South
    • 11th and 12th grade Jewish Heritage Trip
